John Lewis Partnership chairman Sharon White has recorded a video personally thanking the thousands of staff across Waitrose and John Lewis for their dedication facing the extraordinary challenges and high demand in stores during the coronavirus outbreak.
The video, published on the retailer’s social channels and website ahead of the Easter weekend, shows a montage of individual photos of JLP staff across the organisation, from checkout staff to shop floor workers and those working in distribution centres, online delivery drivers, trolley collectors, deli & meat counter assistants, John Lewis staff, store managers and those working from home.
White talks about the thousands of John Lewis staff working in Waitrose while the department stores are closed, the NHS care packages the group is putting together for hospital staff and support for the newly opened Nightingale London hospital.
She also thanks customers for their patience while stores have been busy, social distancing measures put in place and availability stretched.
“As a partnership, we know that when people work together, extraordinary things can be achieved,” White says in the video.
“As we head into Easter, I want to thank every partner for their dedication, and every customer for their patience and co-operation.
“We know we still have more to do but we’re working round the clock, and we will be with all of you every step of the way.”
JLP this week announced it would pay staff an additional bonus – on top of the annual dividend bonus of 2% revealed earlier in the year – in recognition of the sacrifices made during the coronavirus crisis.
