Sheese has added two new products to its vegan cheese range.
The Saputo-owned brand’s NPD consists of a Mighty Melter and The Italiano. The Mighty Melter (rsp; 180g/ £2.25) is a Red Leicester-style plant-based cheese alternative in sliced format, while The Italiano (rsp; 200g/ £2.50) is a mix of plant-based mozzarella and Cheddar-style dairy alternatives.
The new products will hit Asda from 21 November. Sheese said the duo was aimed at “bigger cheese meal occasions”.
The brand’s widening range allowed it to now “offer consumers a vast amount of choice when it comes to vegan cheese”, said Nigel White, marketing director of parent Bute Island Foods.
“Sheese’s growth continues to gather momentum and while some plant-based brands have struggled to stay alive, our products can now be found in Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Ocado and good health stores in the UK,” he added.
The launch comes as Sheese has just announced a move into South African retailers, taking the number of markets to which Bute Island Foods now exports up to 24. Bute Island Foods was acquired by Cathedral City owner Saputo in May 2021.
“Sheese has grown significantly; from first being made on a kitchen table on the Isle of Bute in 1988 to now exporting to South Africa,” said White. “From humble beginnings, Sheese is now available throughout Europe, North America, Australia and the Middle East too.”
