Fresh peas are starring in the first national pea and bean campaign, which makes the point that there is more to them than just frozen.
The £10,000 campaign coincides with the English fresh pea and green bean season and ties in with the 5-a-day message. It has been funded by growers and packers including Mack Multiples, Bomfords, Barfoot's of Botley and Manorfresh and includes recipe ideas and school discussions.
A spokeswoman said: "People tend not to want to buy fresh peas when they are in a hurry, but shelling them can be fun for a salad."
Fresh peas make up only 5% of the UK market.
