Ambitious plans to increase distribution in the grocery sector are being made for two wine ranges from Houghton in Western Australia. Its HWB and Wildflower ranges have been repackaged to bring them up to date. They are sold in the UK by Percy Fox.
Canandaigua has boosted the distribution of the Paul Masson carafe wines with a national listing in Tesco. It is already sold in Sainsbury, Safeway, Savacentre, Co-op, Kwik Save, Budgens and Parisa.
Scottish Courage is marking the introduction of Scotland's first parliament elections with the launch of McEwan's Parliament Ale. This limited edition 5%abv brew will be available in the Scottish off-trade from March 1, retailing at £1.69.
Safeway has set aside checkout racks and gondola ends as part of its support for Wine Relief. The activity began on Monday and will run until Comic Relief's Red Nose Day on March 12. It will be selling six wines for Jancis Robinson's Short Varietal Tasting and has ordered 105,000 copies of her book The Good Nose. This retails for £1, 95p of which goes to the charity.
The Bass market leader in Scotland, Tennant's Lager, has been redesigned. The new look 275ml and 500ml clear glass bottles will go into the trade this month.
Micro brewer Wychwood has won a national listing with Sainsbury for its Fiddler's Elbow ale. This will join its flagship brand Hobgoblin on the multiple's shelves, which the brewer said is the UK's fifth best selling bottled ale. Fiddler's Elbow has 5.2% abv and will retail at £1.69.
