Residual stock expert Shropshire Trading has been awarded B Corp certification for its effort to reduce waste.
The independently-owned company has diverted 75,000 tonnes of stock from landfill over the past 30 years.
Shropshire Trading acquires and trades stock from hundreds of UK brands, from food and drink to beauty, hygiene and household goods.
It then redistributes stock “efficiently and discreetly” to customers including high street discount retailers and wholesalers.
The Shrewsbury-based wholesaler exceeded the required pass score for B Corp certification of 80 points, achieving 99.5 in total.
“We are thrilled to have been awarded B Corp certification. It is a true recognition of our commitment to driving sustainability in the retail supply chain, whilst ensuring that supporting the environment and the people we work with is at the heart of everything we do,” said Shropshire Trading MD Jemima Boroughs.
“Not only do we divert unsold stock that helps deliver cheaper prices for customers, but it also means these products don’t end up going uneaten or sitting in landfill.”
