Owens became a trainee buyer for Sainsbury in 1990. Having progressed to a buying role in the health and beauty category, he became a buyer for household products, covering detergents.
After a role developing own label products he became a buyer for seasonal barbecue and kitchenware ranges.
In 1998 he became a buyer for pet accessories at US chain Petsmart before joining Safeway as a buyer for soup, canned fruit and desserts in 2000. He took up his current role at Waitrose in 2002.

Allwright has worked for Tesco for more than 20 years. Her buying roles have included clothing, stationery and household. She has been buying manager for soft drinks for five years. Among the most enjoyable aspects, she says, is working with suppliers on plans that can grow their business.

Spencer began work in his current job at Asda in May last year. Before that he worked for Sainsbury for more than three years. During that time he worked his way up from coffee buyer to trading manager for the soft drinks, crisps and snacks categories. He has also worked for the Arcadia Group and Planet Hollywood in merchandising and finance.

After time as merchandise manager, then marketing and buying controller for United Co-op’s pharmacy division, Schofield worked in buying roles. He joined 3663 in 1999 and has buying responsibility for categories that include cold beverages, confectionery, crisps and snacks.

Luck joined Sainsbury in 2002 as buyer for baby food and accessories. He moved to his current job in October last year, managing buying for own label and branded chilled drinks.
Before joining Sainsbury, he was an instore commercial manager working for Marks and Spencer.

Winter began his career at Morrisons as a trainee buyer for cooked and continental meats in 1996. After 18 months he was promoted to dairy buyer, responsible for milk, cheese, desserts and juice. He began juice buying this year when he became fresh food trading manager. He is also responsible for cooked meats, poultry, eggs and processed cheese.
