Premier Foods has named Jim Smart as its new group finance director.
Smart joins the food manufacturer from Friends Provident, where he was chief financial officer. Prior to that he was finance head at high street chemist Boots.
Premier, whose brands include Hovis (pictured) and Mr Kipling, had been searching for a new FD after Paul Thomas left the company in August.
“I am delighted Jim has accepted our invitation to join the board,” said Premier chairman David Kappler. “Jim is a well known and respected FD and brings with him a wealth of experience gained at a number of FTSE 100 companies.”
