Snacks brand Made for Drink has launched a “beer-friendly” biltong.
The South Africa-inspired NPD is made from 100% grass-fed Irish beef, and will roll into Waitrose in October (rsp: £2.95/30g).
As a brand that created snacks intended to “pair seamlessly” with alcoholic drinks, it was “only a matter of time” before Made for Drink launched a “beer-friendly” biltong, it said.
The brand’s ongoing ambition was to “provide our retailers with common sense trade up opportunities within the snacks category”, said Made for Drink founder Dan Featherstone.
Biltong had been making “positive strides in the UK marketplace in recent times”, said Featherstone.
“We felt the moment was ripe for a best-in-class biltong made with 100% Irish grass-fed beef,” which was “why we approached a well-established biltong producer with proud Eastern Cape ties who’d relocated to Northern Ireland”, he added.
Made for Drink has also secured a listing with Waitrose for its English Truffle Crisps – which will roll into the retailer in October (rsp: £1.25/40g).
The brand is currently crowdfunding with Seedrs and has exceeded its £600k target with three weeks to go.
