Tesco moves up to the top of the chart this week, forcing Sainsbury down to second place although there are fewer than two percentage points between them.
Both retailers are really strong on promotions on alcoholic drinks with price promotions being the preferred promotional mechanic. Morrisons is the only other fascia to move up this week, from number five to three. Asda and Somerfield both remain in the same positions as last week.

Frozen comes in at number two as the highest new entry, with the focus on party food. Snacks is the only other new entry sneaking in at number five with Pringles, McVitie’s and Walkers all contributing to the success of the category. Soft drinks remains stable in third place while confectionery slips by two places to number four.
Coca-Cola leaps to the top of the brand chart, moving up by eight places from number nine last week.
Aside from the new entries McVitie’s is the only other brand to move up this week, taking third place, while Cadbury, Nestlé and Stella Artois all move down. There are four new entries including Pringles, Bacardi, Youngs and Terrys. Pringles is the highest new entry coming in at number two and focusing on multibuy offers. Baileys is the only non-mover and continues at number eight for the second week.
