Premium pork snacks brand the Snaffling Pig Co has launched its first multi-flavoured pork crackling multipacks into Tesco.
The multipacks, which rolled out into 250 Tesco stores last week (rsp: £2.50/6x18g), feature two smaller bags of each of its Perfectly Salted, Low & Slow BBQ and Marvellous Maple flavours.
Their launch marks the first dedicated shelf sapce for the brand, which initially rolled out into Tesco last year on clip strips.
To mark the launch, Snaffling Pig is running a ‘snaffle raffle’ which will see a surprise seventh pack dropped into some bags at random, and a social media campaign to increase engagement.
The brand has also rolled out into Sainsbury’s for the first time today (16 July) following a rebrand in February, which saw it reinstrate toned-down colours on packaging.
“The smaller format gives new customers the chance to try our flavours as well as access Snaffling Pig treats nationally,” said founder and CEO Nick Coleman.
“It’s a major move for our business and testament to the success and growth of the category. We’ve never been in Sainsbury’s before or lived in the kitchen cupboard so it’s a shift in the way Snaffling Pig products are being consumed and becoming part of our customers’ lives.”
Snaffling Pig won a £70k investment in 2016 from Moonpig founder Nick Jenkins after appearing on an episode of Dragon’s Den. The founders agreed to give Jenkins 20% equity in the business in exchange for the cash injection, with an option to buy back 10% later on.
