Soreen is expanding its snacking range with the introduction of Squidgy Cake Minis.
The cake bars launch in Tesco on 10 February in Chocolate and Toffee flavours, with a pack containing five 30g portions (rsp: £1.39).
Each piece contains 95-99 calories, compared with 147 calories in a 33g Mr Kipling Angel Slice, and 97 in a 24.5g McVitie’s Jaffa Cake bar. Soreen said the cakes were 60% lower in fat and 50% lower in sugar than ‘standard’ cake.
“With today’s consumers becoming more health conscious but not wanting to compromise on taste, we wanted to offer a healthier alternative to cake as we continue our investment in NPD,” said Soreen marketing director Bethan Brown. Soreen’s sales are up 17.8% to £35.4m [Nielsen 52 w/e 10 October 2015]. Last September it launched Breakfast Bakes, a range of three flavours of bars topped with toasted oats
