Online healthy food delivery company Soulmate Food has been bought out of administration by health food supplier Kettlebell Kitchen, saving around 20 jobs.
The Lancashire-headquartered business delivers pre-prepared, tailor-made meals to customers from a range of weight loss, performance, vegetarian and juice diet menus.
The company was previously rescued from administration in April 2017 by a management buy-out and sold to SM Life Ltd.
Manchester healthy food supplier and meal prep company Kettlebell Kitchen has now purchased Soulmate, wcich has offices in Manchester and a production facility in East Lancashire.
The developed brand and strong southern clientele will position Kettlebell Kitchen as one of the UK’s largest meal preparation companies, said its Jamie Alaise.
“Soulmate Food is a fantastic brand built up over 9-10 solid years - one of the very first to launch into this market. With a strong and more southern clientele complimenting Kettlebell Kitchen’s more Northern customer base, this now positions us as one of the largest meal preparation companies within the UK,” he commented.
“The brands and offerings are very different, appealing to different customer wants and demands, this means we can now cater to a wider spectrum of people when it comes to nutrition than any other prep company on the market today.”
Jason Elliott, Ben Cowgill and Craig Johns from North West insolvency practitioners Cowgill Holloway Business Recovery were appointed as joint administrators on 30 April 2018.
“It’s great to be able to rescue the business and save the jobs of Soulmate Food,” said Jason Elliott. “The successful party has allowed the continuity of supply to customers, therefore preserving the goodwill and intangible asset value, and has provided ongoing employment to the workforce.
“Kettlebell Kitchen is a growing brand across Manchester, and it feels like a great fit for Soulmate Food.”
Kevin Pinkerton and Miles Hacking from Freeths advised Soulmate Food Limited, and Rachael Bentley of Knights Solicitors advised Kettlebell Kitchen.
