The Southern Co-operative is to showcase its locally sourced products as part of British Food Fortnight.
The society will promote food and drink products from its Local Flavours range across its social media channels during the fortnight from 22 September. It will also look to highlight the almost 200 local suppliers it works with across 13 counties during the campaign.
The Local Flavours range includes 1,900 different types of products, such as fruit & veg, beer, meat & fish, bakery goods and frozen ready meals, and is available in 196 of Southern Co-op’s 250 branches.
In the seven months from February to August 2018, Southern Co-op shoppers bought nearly two million local products from its stores. Local Flavours marked its 10th anniversary last year.
“Local Flavours is a really important aspect to our retail stores,” said Southern Co-op chief operating officer Simon Eastwood. “Knowing where our food comes from is so important and so is supporting our local economy. Our local producers can also bring the food alive to help us understand exactly what goes in to the food on our plates.”
