Spar is revamping its cider range in a bid to “take advantage of an estimated £1m incremental opportunity”.
Spar Original Dry cider has been repackaged and reformulated to give it a lighter, fresher taste. The revamp covers all formats, including two and three-litre bottles, and a £2.75 price-marked promo will run on 440ml can four-packs. Spar is also launching a new full-bodied Premium Reserve line in May.
“The cider category is growing consistently in c-stores, offering us a real opportunity,” said Spar UK licensed trading director Chris Lewis.
Off-trade cider sales rose 5.3% to £942.9m last year [Nielsen 52 w/e 13 October 2012], with own-label sales up 4.7%.
