Spar has become the first symbol group retailer to launch an own-label Zero sugar cola ahead of the soft drinks sugar levy.
Its new own-label Classic Cola Zero Sugar is available in-store in 500ml and two-litre formats, priced at 59p and 89p respectively.
Since 2016, Spar has slashed 168 tonnes of sugar from its lines after reformulating its wider carbonated drinks range.
“These two new lines are giving Spar shoppers more choice in great-tasting soft drinks, with zero sugar - and all at excellent value prices,” said Spar UK head of brand Cath McIlwham.
“The launches give Spar the chance to lead the symbol group market in a category that is core to convenience retailers, while keeping pace with the ever-changing market.”
This comes as part of Spar’s wider commitment to reducing sugar across its range.
“We know consumers are demanding healthy ingredients with less sugar,” McIlwham added.
“We’ve worked alongside our supplier, Cott, to maintain our great-tasting products while reducing the sugar levels.”
