Spar has launched a range of impulse Christmas confectionery designed to capture last-minute gifting opportunities.
The retailer has changed its Christmas confectionery tactics to focus on impulse seasonal lines rather than traditional selection boxes.
Spar has launched a chocolate Santa Claus (rsp £1.50/150g), Milk Chocolate Gold Coins (rsp 75p/75g) and Milk Chocolate Medallions (rsp 50p/23g), which will be available from 24 October.
“As shoppers are increasingly looking for last-minute gifts in their local store, we have the perfect Christmas confectionery range in eyecatching designs, all ready for Spar retailers,” said Spar UK brand director Susan Darbyshire.
“By merchandising festive confectionery products together with other Christmas lines, and creating themed displays, our retailers can signpost to their customers that they can find all the items they need for their Christmas shopping missions.”
Spar said its own-label Christmas lines created a £335k sales opportunity for retailers, and has created limited-edition packaging to draw attention to seasonal produce and tie in with festive in-store PoS.
“Shoppers start looking out for everything they need for the festive season earlier and earlier,” added Darbyshire. “That means retailers should also start planning for Christmas with a visible festive confectionery range as soon as possible - ideally by the end of October.”
