Booker has recruited Andrew Davenport-Jones as its confectionery buyer, replacing Anthony Taylor who took the post of proprietary brand trading controller at Spar in January.
Davenport-Jones moves to a category which he claims is worth about 16% of Booker's total non-tobacco sales. He reports to category controller for confectionery Chris Neal.
Davenport-Jones has 10 years' wholesale and retail experience, including senior buying positions in impulse, core grocery and beer, wines and spirits. He said: "My aim is to make Booker the destination for confectionery, while continuing the results the buying team has established and managing promotional strategy."
He moves from Spar, where he was core grocery trading manager. Other positions have included grocery buyer at United Co-op and category buyer for beers, wines and spirits at Dhamecha Foods.
