Spar wholesaler James Hall has sold £1.3m worth of cream cakes since adding the range a year ago.
The cakes are made at the company’s Clayton Park bakery, which it acquired in 2010.
Following their success, James Hall is now launching four new cakes: a twin pack Cream Crisp; a two-pack Victoria Sponge; a twin-pack of its existing Manchester Tart; and a limited-edition Lemon Cream Bun for Easter (all rsp: £1.50).
