A trolley for children with disabilities and special needs has been developed for Waitrose after a shopper requested the device for her son.
The seat has adjustable head, arm and leg supports and can be used by youngsters between two and six years old who may have outgrown standard trolley infant seats. The trolleys are available in the Bury St Edmonds, Sidmouth, South Woodford and Sandbach stores, and will be rolled out on demand.
Waitrose purchaser Lesley Galloway said: “The shopper said her son enjoyed the physical stimulation of a supermarket environment.”
The trolleys have also been purchased by two Tesco stores and one outlet owned by Oxford, Swindon and Gloucester Co-op.
