Independently owned spice supplier Spicentice has scooped national listings with Asda for its range of recipe spice kits.
The Leicester start-up launched its freshly blended spice kits into 17 Asdas in 2007 but the chain has now taken the listing national, given consumer enthusiasm for cooking at home. "The return to scratch cooking is evident in the volume sales in the herb and spice category," said Rachel Kelly, Asda's trading assistant for condiments and cooking.
The Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh and Bombay Potatoes kits have an rsp of £1.99.
