Caravan’s Olympians Luncheon has raised a record £265,000 for the grocery charity.
The amount raised from the annual lunch last week will allow Caravan to support 210 of its 2,100 beneficiaries.
A host of sporting stars attended the event, including rower James Cracknell, presenter Clare Balding and former snooker player Willie Thorne.
Thorne also hosted an auction, with lots from Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose raising a record £51,500, including £30,000 for the Asda lot of a trip for four to Walmart’s annual conference in Bentonville, Arkansas.
