Barr Soft Drinks is targeting its St Clement's brand at the lunchbox market and school vending machines, with a range of 60% fruit juice drinks in still and sparkling varieties.
The drinks are packed in 250ml screw-cap bottles under the sub-brands Simply Fruity and Simply Sparkle, and will be available from September. Three still variants are apple & blackcurrant, tropical and apple & raspberry, while the sparkling range consists of apple, mixed fruits, and apple, grape & strawberry. More flavours are expected to follow later in the year.
According to Barr, the drinks have been developed to meet government guidelines for school tuck shops and vending machines, which come into effect from September. As well as having 60% fruit, they contain no added sugar, fruit extract, artificial sweeteners, colours or flavours.
A spokesman said: "Proper hydration is crucial. While children will drink water, they also want great-tasting soft drinks."
