A revolution in agricultural productivity will be needed - and fast - if the UK is to capitalise on Brexit, continue to feed itself and protect the environment, the AHDB has warned.
The levy board’s study, Driving Productivity Growth Together, warned a “yawning productivity gap” had opened up in food production from 2000 to 2013, worth over £4.3bn in lost GDP, with the US and the Netherlands growing productivity three times faster than the UK.
