A combination of Brits holidaying in the UK and new store openings have boosted full-year sales at J&J Wilson.
The retailer, which runs 55 Costcutter stores in holiday parks across the UK and is ranked number 45 in The Grocer's Top 50 ranking of independent grocery retailers, posted a 19% rise in sales to £15.7m in the year to 31 January.
It took on 13 stores during the period and reported a "strong sales performance across the board". However, pre-tax profits fell from £197,185 to £153,351, figures the company described as "satisfactory" given the current economic climate.
"The company has had a successful year," MD Derrick Lloyd wrote in accounts filed at Companies House this week. "The directors believe the company has sufficient strength to be able to continue to trade successfully."
