Müller Dairy’s head of operational marketing, Stephanie Green, is set to join Aldi next month in a new role developed by the discounter.
Green, who has worked at Müller Dairy for seven years, joins Aldi on 6 October as category director, and is expected to use her experience to develop macro layouts and formats rather than working on a particular category, joint MD of buying Tony Baines explained.
“Stephanie’s role is to help coordinate issues around the wider Aldi brand. The way we’re currently structured, buying directors have responsibility on a category level. But if you take our Specially Selected brand, for example, it crosses many categories. Stephanie will help us join those categories together.
Green joined Müller in January 2007 as senior customer category manager for Tesco. Three years later she was promoted to customer category controller in which she led the category management team. In July last year she took up her present role leading Muller Dairy’s category management, trade marketing, field sales and digital retail team.
Prior to Müller she worked as a strategic planning expert for Reebok and also held various customer insight roles at PepsiCo.
Speaking at the IGD Category Management and Shopper Marketing Summit 2014 in June, Green said the biggest challenge for suppliers and retailers in category management was “driving long-term changes and truly different initiatives.”
