Salad brand Steve’s Leaves has expanded its range with a new Wild Rocket & Oriental Baby Leaves SKU in time for summer.
The new salad bag features a red pak choi, green tatsoi and wild rocket blend (rsp: £1.40/60g) inspired by a winter sun trip to Portugal and went on sale in Waitrose yesterday (11 April).
Designed for “increasingly adventurous” and experimental consumers, the 60g air-cushioned bags were slightly smaller than standard salad bags in a bid to reduce food waste, said a spokesman. The Vitacress-owned brand claimed high environmental standards, washing its salad in spring water and dedicating 10% of its farmland to wildlife conservation and biodiversity.
“We’ve blended red pak choi with wild rocket and green tatsoi to create a unique and sophisticated mix of leaves,” said head of innovation and marketing at Steve’s Leaves Eleanor Bridgman. “The product is perfect as a side salad or simply dressed with olive oil and salt Portuguese-style.”
It comes as branded salad leader Florette announced a new look for its packs ahead of a summer marketing and NPD push.
The brand’s updated packaging will highlight Florette’s farmer-owned status, as well as its ‘Always Made with Sunshine’ tagline based on insight that consumers associated sunshine with taste and freshness.
“We believe this new packaging will impart these positive feelings and inspire shoppers to buy into the category,” said Florette marketing director John Armstrong.
