Booker has signed Garry Stimpson to the newly created role of merchandising controller to focus on its Premier symbol group.
Stimpson's main responsibility will be to develop formats and layouts of independent stores to maximise sales and profits for retailers. He will be looking at improving merchandising ideas and solutions, as well as implementing range recommendations.
Stimpson has more than 20 years experience working with big food retailers on projects. He has managed major operational and merchandising initiatives including converting 50 former Safeway stores to the Morrisons format.
Stimpson will report to Steve Fox, director of retail and Premier development.
"Garry will be a great asset to Booker," said Fox. "He is an expert in delivering operational results to maximise sales and profits from stores.
"Garry will be working closely with our customers to ensure excellent relationships and effective operating procedures."
