Warburtons is facing disruption to production in the run-up to Christmas after workers agreed to a 48-hour strike later this month.
The Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union, which has 1,200 members among Warburtons' 3,000 employees, plans to take action on 13-14 December following a pay dispute.
Talks between the union and Warburtons broke down when the union rejected Warburtons' offer of a 3.74% pay rise on the grounds it was below the inflation rate of 4.2%.
"Nobody wants a strike and we are still looking for solutions, but with Warburtons' profitability so strong a bigger pay rise is fully justified," said BFAWU regional officer Roy Streeter.
A Warburtons spokesman said: "We believe our pay offer is fair and competitive in line with current settlements in food manufacturing."
