Staff at two of Wm Morrison’s biggest distribution centres may strike after a row with the Transport & General Workers’ Union (T&G) over the issue of binding arbitration.
Newspaper reports state that over 1,600 workers at Wakefield and Northwich distribution centres are upset that the arbitrator recently ruled they should accept a pay deal, despite it being rejected by 83% of workers.
A strike could affect the company’s 130 stores just as it is trying to merge its business with Safeway.
