Subway is debuting its first jacket potato menu, following what it describes as a “renaissance” of the hot food-to-go item.
Its new “Spudway” menu will feature four options with “British staple” toppings, including Cheese and Heinz beans, and Tuna Mayonnaise.
It’s also expanded the offer to include Subway sandwich fillings that sell well, including Chicken Tikka, Rotisserie Style Chicken & Bacon, and Taco Beef flavours.
Customers will be able to turn any Sub sandwich into a spud.
Subway will be using exclusively British potatoes, which will be cooked in store daily.
“With jacket potatoes surging in popularity – thanks to their comforting, filling nature and great value – now is the ideal time for Subway to trial this exciting addition to our menu”, said Subway EMEA director of innovation and culinary Deniz Safa.
“Given the recent buzz on social media and growing consumer demand, we’re eager to see how Spudway is received, and if our guests love it, this could be just the beginning.
“We’re always looking to bring our fans delicious and customisable options that suit every taste and every budget. Made with British potatoes, salted butter and a double portion of cheese, plus any of our many toppings, Spudway is the perfect freshly made, high-quality lunch choice.”
The new offer will be available in over 170 Subway sites in and around London until 15 April.
The chain said it would potentially roll it out nationwide later this year.
