CTN specialist wholesaler Sugro has called Mike Sonia out of early retirement to head its buying department. The former Booker buying director retired last year after two years as commercial director of Leeds based Fresh Fare.
He said: "I am pleased to be back. I will be heading up Sugro's buying and trading areas and ensuring our 66 member companies get the best possible deal from suppliers. But it won't be at the expense of suppliers I want to make it a win-win situation for everyone."
Sonia brings to Sugro 30 years' experience in the fmcg sector. He started his career at Asda, going on to spend 11 years at M6 Cash and Carry as group marketing director before a four year stint at Booker.
Sugro md Philip Jenkins said: "There are not many executives around who can boast Mike's varied trading experience. I believe his arrival underlines Sugro's positive approach to trading and its determination to progressively develop the group in the future."
