Procter & Gamble is seeking a buyer for its Sunny D and Punica juice drink brands in order to focus on its snacks and coffee businesses. The company said it would consider sale or alternative offers for the two businesses as a group or as individual units. Procter & Gamble chairman, president and chief executive AG Lafley said it would now focus on growing its snacks and coffee brands, which include Pringles and Folgers. "A key element of our strategic focus involves tough choices that enable us to re-deploy our resources and invest in core and new businesses," he said. Procter & Gamble UK brand manager Jon Lear said: "This is a global decision and not driven by factors in the UK and Ireland. We have a very strong business in the UK and Ireland and for us it remains business as usual." Gerrard analyst Jim McCabe said Sunny D would fit much better within a drinks business such as PepsiCo, Coca-Cola or Cadbury Schweppes. In the UK, a lemon and lime flavour and a 200ml lunchbox size had been added to the Sunny D portfolio. Punica is primarily sold in Germany. {{NEWS }}
