Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury are all considering whether to open GP centres in their stores under new plans put forward by the government.
Earlier this month, the government revealed that it was keen to open GP surgeries in supermarkets in a bid to make health services more accessible.
A spokesman for Tesco said: “We support the government’s aim to make healthcare more convenient and accessible for people and have provided health centres alongside our stores in Waltham Abbey, Liverpool, Prestwich and Harlow.”
He added that Tesco’s 200 in-store pharmacies already provided a range of services to support GPs, from smoking cessation and dietary advice to minor ailments and medicine management.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Morrisons said it was in the process
