A halal and kosher version of Mini Babybel is picking up traction with the mults, with Tesco set to boost distribution of the product.
The product will shortly go into 11 Tesco stores - most of them Extras - having previously been stocked in six stores. It is also available through the Tesco website, priced at £3 for a 110g net of five. In addition, halal and kosher Mini Babybel has been available in 45 Sainsbury’s stores for the past six months as well as in kosher delis and supermarkets across the country.
Halal and kosher Mini Babybel is imported from France and distributed in the UK by Elit Kosher and Halal. It is sold in nets of five, whereas the standard Mini Babybel is sold in nets of six.
Elit Kosher and Halal owner Yeshurun Judah said halal and kosher Mini Babybel had been available in the UK for a number of years but had recently made significant progress with the mults as more consumers became aware of it. “I believe the product is being spoken of more and therefore is being looked for more and used by people who adhere to halal and kosher,” he said. “Now they have the choice, they are choosing it.”
