A retailer that set up shop in an old co-operative store has been named Greengrocer of the Year.
The Sussex Produce Company in Steyning, West Sussex, is one of 12 category winners in this year’s Farm Shop & Deli Awards, run by William Reed Business Media, publisher of The Grocer.
The shop was set up in 2007 and claims to support more than 70 local farmers and producers.
The awards, sponsored by Olives Et Al, were “a brilliant opportunity for the UK’s small independent businesses to get recognition nationally,” said judge Neil Nugent, head of product development at Morrisons.
The overall Retailer of the Year will be revealed at the Farm Shop & Deli Show on 25 March.
