Californian wine producer Sutter Home has launched a pair of entry-level wines for the independent and convenience-store sector.
The two newcomers, Sutter Home Red and White (rsp: £3.99), have been produced with c-stores and small grocers in mind. The red is a blend of Syrah and other varietals grown in the Napa Valley. The white is a blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and other varietals from Sutter Home’s ranches and the Sacramento Delta region.
Paul Shelton, Sutter Home brand manager, said: “PLB Wines commissioned a review of the market in 2004 and identified a gap in the impulse sector at the £3.99 price point.”
He added: “So by introducing Sutter Home Red and White we can provide the impulse sector with a branded wine that will not appear in the multiple grocer,s but which can compete on price with the multiples’ entry-level branded offerings.”
