Tesco has appointed Terry Greenwood as electricals director. He joins from DSG International, which changed its name from Dixons Group in September last year, where he was a senior executive.
Tesco said that Greenwood's appointment would strengthen its electrical team as it develops its offer at home and abroad.
His appointment comes as Tesco prepares to bolster its electrical range. It has already launched a standalone non food format, Home Plus, with electrical appliances playing a big part, and there are also reports that Tesco is planning to launch a home shopping catalogue later this year that could expand its electricals reach further.
In October last year, a Harris Interactive survey of 2,000 people conducted exclusively for The Grocer found that almost one in four people would choose Tesco over a traditional high street retailer for large electrical goods.
