Londis has announced plans to spend £3m on its southern regional distribution centres at Thamesmead in south-east London and at Andover in Hampshire.
The investment by the symbol group will include new chill stores at both RDCs.
Chief executive Graham White commented: "Chilled goods, particularly snacking and food on the move, are the top growth category and up 20% through Londis stores.
"The ready meals market is growing at 16% and is currently worth £750m. We put a range of 50 products into our RDCs earlier this year and plan to invest in the new chill capacity to accommodate future growth in this area."
The group will also buy a further 3.2 acres of land at Thamesmead to provide extended vehicle parking, improved circulation and security.
Existing offices will be demolished to extend warehouse space.
