Taco Bell has launched its first Christmas burrito in the UK following a successful trial in the US.

The chain said it was aiming to innovate the category by “breaking out of the Christmas sandwich space and adding a twist to a classic”.

Priced at £5.79, the festive burrito is available with a chicken or vegetarian filling seasoned with Mexican-inspired flavours, sitting alongside black beans, crushed nacho chips, and veggie Christmas stuffing.

“Our burrito game is strong at Taco Bell and this year we wanted to shake up the traditional sandwich scene with a festive offering of our own,” said Taco Bell UK head of marketing Jessica Kleinert.

“Our twist on cheesy indulgence with bold holiday flavours is hitting five stores across the country, and if fans fall hard for the seasonal burrito, it might just make an appearance nationwide next year.

“We’ve seen that our fans in the US love the limited-edition menu items and so we wanted to bring a festive special to the UK for the first time this year.”

It is due to be available in selected stores in London, Manchester, Sheffield, Cardiff and Glasgow from 15 November.
