The Advertising Standards Authority has ruled that Britvic’s ‘Tango Pipes’ TV ad poses a serious risk of harm to children.
The authority suspended the ad two weeks ago (The Grocer, November 13, p8) pending a full inquiry. The commercial features a man wrapped in a carpet falling through a pyramid of pipes and rolling down a hill before crashing into a tree.
The ASA has ruled the ad out of order because children could copy rolling down a hill. It said the type of pipework was often found near building sites and that the ad gave no sense of consequences because the man emerges unhurt from the fall.
