Scottish cooked meat specialist Browns Food Group has more than doubled distribution of its Tarbert Finest brand after securing listings in Tesco for five of its branded products.
The range of meats will go into 80 Scottish Tesco stores from 18 October. Tarbert Finest products are already stocked in some Scottish Sainsbury's, Tesco and Co-op stores, but the Tesco listing is the brand's biggest yet.
"This will more than double our brand presence and penetration," said retail sales and marketing manager Ross Henderson.
Tarbert Finest was focused on local provenance and would be positioned "between standard and premium," Henderson said, although he would not say how much the products would be sold for at Tesco.
Browns hoped its listings would act as a "springboard" for taking the brand into England and Wales but this was a "long-term ambition", he added.
