Asda has teamed up with Amcor Flexibles and QV Foods to develop a microwaveable pack for new potatoes that they claim produces tastier results.
The packaging uses an innovative self-venting system that means the pack doesn’t have to be pierced. The system allowed the potatoes to steam more gently, resulting in improved vitamin retention and flavour, said David Mayers, Amcor’s sales manager for fresh produce.
“This is the first time Amcor’s ProtectValve has been applied to lidding material for fresh produce in the UK,” he said.
Asda has launched the packaging in two variants - one with mint, butter & herbs and one with chilli, sun-dried tomato & basil butter.
