Crisp manufacturer Tayto Group has bought The Real Pork Crackling Company to add to its growing portfolio of UK snack brands.
The Northern Irish snacking group has purchased the company from owner Chris Cunliffe for an undisclosed sum.
Alongside its pork scratchings brand, the acquired company has other pork crackling brands including Golden Pork Crunch, listed in Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s.
The deal is the latest acquisition for the snack supplier, following the purchase of Pop Notch popcorn and Uvenco subsidiaries Uvenco, Snack in the Box and Drinkmaster last month.
Following the acquisition, Chris Cunliffe will continue to lead The Real Pork Crackling Company as well as take a wider role as COO - pork.
The newly acquired manufacturer would join Tayto’s pork scratching brand Mr Porky’s and be an “excellent fit” for the company, said Tayto CEO Paul Allen.
He added: “Organic growth and planned acquisition have always been key to our development strategy and this is another phase of that plan.”
