>>Flora brand manager Warren Plaskett trains his team
The Flora brand manager at Unilever UK Foods, Warren Plaskett, has been testing his teamwork to the max over the past few months as part of his training for the Flora London Marathon.
Flora, which is celebrating its 10th year of sponsoring the famous run, has organised a team of nearly 500 Unilever employees to run tomorrow.
“It's a fantastic time of year as it really brings us together as a broader company,” says Plaskett. “This year I'm the only one in the Flora brand team running the full marathon, but everyone in the team is part of the Flora Family Marathon - a new event - this year. It's been fantastic: exercising together is a brilliant way to get fit, have fun and get to know each other a little better.” Plaskett explains that it’s his job to lead a multi-functional team that will deliver Flora’s health message and build on the brand, as well as making sure that the event stays fresh. He says his team has to maximise all tools available, such as branding, in-store, PR, press and online to deliver the brand’s message with clarity.
“It's also a challenge to keep refreshing the event and to take the heart health message to a broader audience every year,” says Plaskett. “I’m especially proud of the work we’ve done here as I think it’s truly unique for a brand to get its consumers up and active and participating in the sponsorship.”
He adds: “The event helps set the brand apart from the competition.”
