Premium snack maker Ten Acre has been named a government ‘Export Champion’ after boosting overseas trade since the Brexit vote in June.
Launched in 2013, the growing crisps and popcorn brand already exports to more than 40 countries, including the US, Canada, across the Middle East and Europe, with a third of revenues generated abroad. It has gained an increasing foothold in the Far East in the past six months and has grown distribution in existing markets.
“When we launched Ten Acre, we knew export was a vital part of our business plan,” “The PM’s recent comment that we should all ‘get out into the world, trade and do business around the globe’ is a positive message all British companies should consider,” said CEO Tony Goodman.
The government has chosen the brand to be an Export Champion for the Department of International Trade (DIT) in a bid to encourage others businesses to start exporting.
Bev Mullin, partnerships manager for the DIT North West regional team, added: “Ten Acre join an elite group of businesses who have been hand-picked to inspire and motivate those inexperienced in international trade, by promoting the benefits of exporting through their own success and sharing their extensive exporting knowledge and experience.
“They will be a key part of our strategy to inspire non-exporters to get started and new exporters to do more by bringing to life our tailored advice and support, which they have used extensively throughout their export journey.”
Ten Acre’s range of 10 flavours of hand-cooked crisps and seven varieties of popcorn are stocked in Selfridges, Whole Foods Market and Holland & Barrett in the UK. The brand also supplies The Ritz and Wimbledon, as well as independents, delis and cafés and hotels.
