Tesco and Asda are looking to take on designer labels with new cut-price jeans.
Both chains have launched designer inspired denims for less than £20. A Tesco spokeswoman said that its new Cherokee jeans range is the clothing equivalent of its Finest range.
She said that the range was much more about fashion than the £3 jeans both Tesco and Asda began selling earlier this year. It will be marketed as a premium product and include a number of styles.
The Cherokee skinny jeans will retail at around £15 while Asda has also launched a range of designer inspired jeans under its George label. Its products will sell for between £12 and £18.
