Tesco and Waitrose are following in the footsteps of Asda by bringing click & collect to a handful of London Underground stations.
The retailers will install click & collect facilities at six stations each. From February, Tesco will operate services from car parks at Osterley, Newbury Park, Rayners Lane, Finchley Central, Arnos Grove and Cockfosters. Waitrose’s sites are still to be decided, Transport for London (TfL) said.
InPost, which provides parcel deliveries for retailers, will also install lockers at three stations.
“Our customers really enjoy the convenience of click & collect because it makes shopping so much easier,” said Tesco’s MD for London Andrew Yaxley.
“The additional TfL pick-up locations will give even greater flexibility to our customers because they will have more options to collect their shopping at a time and location that’s most convenient to them.”
Robin Phillips, Waitrose director, e-commerce, said: “More and more people are adding an online shopping mission to their way of buying from Waitrose and we will continue to invest in making sure that we give them what they want, when they want it.”
The move follows a successful trial between Asda and TfL that brought click & collect to six station car parks in November. Asda is now in talks to expand the service.
