Tesco has appointed a new corporate affairs guru and brought in a new PR agency to handle its global business, as the retailer continues its management shake-up.
The supermarket giant revealed it would split the role of departing board member Lucy Neville-Rolfe, after officially announcing she will retire in January as executive director of corporate and legal affairs.
Her role will be divided into legal affairs and corporate affairs, with Rebecca Shelley, currently a partner at leading PR firm Brunswick, taking on the role of corporate affairs director.
This week it emerged Brunswick is being brought in to take over as Tesco’s corporate comms partner, ending a 12-year relationship with rival Maitland.
Shelley will join Tesco in early summer and will sit on the executive committee but not the main board.
Shelley joined Brunswick as a Partner in October 2007 and her clients include a list of major companies, including ING, Nationwide and BUPA ,
Former Cabinet office guru Neville-Rolfe, was recently unveiled as the new president of business lobbying group EuroCommerce, and will take up the three-year-mandate in July.
