Tesco has appointed Sheila Gallagher as category manager for dairy.
She is managing a team of nine people and is responsible for the whole of the multiple’s dairy category.
A spokeswoman for Tesco said: “Her responsibilities include heading dairy buying, setting retail strategy for the category and overseeing the technical development of cheese, milk, butters & spreads and cream.” Gallagher replaces Robert Hirst, who left in July to become trading director of dairy co-operative Milk Link (The Grocer, July 5, p15).
She has worked for Tesco for the past six years, occupying a series of buying roles, including crisp buyer, confectionery and biscuits senior buyer and senior soft drinks buyer.
She reports to John Scouler, category director for dairy and delicatessen.
