Tesco has secured sites for its first stores in Malaysia as it starts its aggressive expansion plan in the country.
Under a deal signed with joint venture partner Sime Darby last year, Tesco will invest £215m to build at least 15 hypermarkets across Malaysia in the next four to five years. The first store opens in May in Puchong, near the capital Kuala Lumpur; the second in Peringgit, Melaka, by the end of the third quarter. Two more will follow before the end of the year in Klang and Mutiara Damansara.
